In 1928, Lord Ponsonby, a British aristocrat, wrote the Falsehood in Wartime.
In it, he outlined the Ten Rules of Propaganda–
- One. We do not want war.
- Two. The enemy, and enemy alone, is guilty of war.
- Three. The enemy’s leader is evil and resembles the Devil.
- Four. We are fighting to defend a noble cause, not for our own interest.
- Five. The enemy commits atrocities on purpose. We only make mistakes.
- Six. The enemy uses unlawful weapons.
- Seven. We have few losses. The enemy is suffering severely.
- Eight. Smart people support our cause.
- Nine. Our cause is sacred.
- Ten. Those who doubt what we say are traitors.
Now, a question for you–
How many of these do you see in the Ukraine War?
Me? I see all ten.
Let me say this, though–
I am not writing this to support Russia.
Putin is the clear aggressor in this war, and he deserves to be condemned for his fuckery…
…but at the same time, the glorification of Zelensky by the media is grossly misplaced (and deeply suspicious to boot).
As any serious observer of Ukrainian politics will tell you, Zelensky is one shady son of a bitch.
Ukraine is a flawed democracy, corrupt at every imaginable level. You don’t climb to the top of a dirty government with the ethics of an Eagle Scout.
And yet, what’s happening? The media are exalting Zelensky like he’s the second coming of Jesus Christ.
I smell a rat.
Do you?
