There is no objectivity in morality. There is nothing objectively good or objectively bad.
Morality doesn’t have clear rules everyone agrees upon.
But we wish that there are, because with clear rules, life can be easy. We want to know what the rules are and we want to obey them to be safe. We want a reliable code that, when followed with diligence, will reward us with satisfaction, success and joy. We want to walk that surefire path to paradise…
…but does that path truly exist?
We yearn for there to be a one source of truth. This is the singular standard against which we measure the moral worth of our thoughts and deeds.
We wish for that standard to exist, because with it, life can be easy. We can simply do what’s right (by the standard), avoid what’s wrong (by the standard), and happiness is guaranteed…
…but does that standard truly exist?
Science is objective, but human action is not. Psychology is not science. Sociology is not science. Ethics is not science. “Behavioral science”, despite its name, is not science either.
There is no objectivity in morality. Anyone claiming to uphold an objective code of living derived from an immutable standard of morality is delusional.
Or worse, evil.
